Time is a dimension that is continuous, endless and always moving forward. For eons humans have sought to regulate their lives and activities by keeping track of the time. The many devices created for this purpose in the early ages include the moving shadow of a stick thrust into the ground, or of a bar positioned above a sun dial, scratches and placements of rocks that would become illuminated by the sun’s annual solstices, batches of sand falling through narrow openings into containers and Mayan astronomical implements. More recently, a huge variety of clocks, pocket and wrist watches have been produced in nearly endless variations. Finally, digital watches appeared on the scene in the late 20th century.
Although the observable properties of time in nature involve balanced rhythms and motions, e.g. the sun’s travel between the summer and winter solstices, its daily arch moving across the sky from sunrise to sunset, moon rise and fall, ebb and flow of tides, the digital watch made its debut as a mere counter of the numerical values of hour, minutes and seconds, without a scintilla of graphical motions. Thus, while life and time have always been synchronous partners in motion, the conventional digital watch has remained sterile, unimaginative and lifeless, giving no sense of the motional phenomena of time.
Quadtec has completely overcome the failings of the conventional digital watch by unveiling a fascinating new world of timekeeping based upon the principle of digital time-analog motion. In Quadtec each hour is stationed in the center of the watch display and 15-minute quadrants of time travel around the hour from the right side to the left side. These minutes can be controlled by the user to initially define minutes past the current hour in the first half hour, followed by minutes remaining until the next hour in the second half hour (elapsed forward “EF”). Or, the quarter hour segments can be chosen to display minutes past the hour throughout the entire hour (elapsed segmented “ES”). A last option is to display stationary minutes past the entire hour on the right side of the hour, for the traditionalists who may still prefer to view motionless digital time (elapsed unified “EU”).
Quadtec’s unique time displays and systems instill new life and meaning to the process of keeping track of the time. After a brief period of use, Quadtec becomes a treasured companion that enables users to regulate their work and/or play, with complete confidence and trust that such activities will happen precisely at the desired time.
